After a slow start due to the weather, it looks like this year’s fair will be one of the highest in terms of gross income (over $500k) due to record breaking Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Now we process all the invoices including additional costs for the very successful credit card implementation. We expect to be able to give firmer numbers in another month.
This year’s fair was indeed a great blessing, fruit of God’s providence and the work of numerous volunteers who have given countless hours for the sake of St. Leo Parish. We want to share with the parish community some numbers that, even if incomplete, show the many elements of the Fair’s fruitfulness:
Booth sponsors hit a new record with $52,900 in sponsorships. These sponsorships provide necessary protection against sunk costs and the financial impact of bad weather. And a special thank you to the Business Booth Sponsors! Please let them know you appreciate their support with your patronage.
Credit cards were a huge hit this year in the food booths as roughly 1/3 of our revenue flowed through credit card transactions. While the credit cards do come with a cost (processing fees) we believe the tips patrons entered over the course of the fair will greatly offset that cost to the parish.
Our new kitchen performed spectacularly! The team in the kitchen produced:

- Over 900 pounds of sausage
- 880 pounds of pasta
- Hundreds of cupcakes and cookies
- A plethora of clean dishes!
A big thank you to our volunteers who served:

- Over 9,000 pizza frittas including and 238 pounds of Hazelnut spread.
- 2,000 burgers and 5,000 hot dogs
- 3250 pitas and 4500 slices of gyro beef
- 250 lbs of Mussels, 4300 clams, 1900 oysters, and over 80 lbs of shrimp.
- 12,000 bottles of water and cans of soda
- 8,680 cups of beer and over 1,100 seltzers
- Over 3,000 ride bracelets and over 140,000 ride tickets
- More slushees than in any prior year.

Finally, a big thank you to our counting room who counted over 27,615 individual bills over the course of the Fair. Imagine how many they would have needed to count if we didn’t have credit cards!
